Buddy Hield Demarcus Cousins Sacramento Kings Trade

Just when you thought it was safe to turn off the television and turn in for an early night after watching the 2017 NBA All Star Game, the impossible happened.  The Buddy Hield Demarcus Cousins Sacramento Kings Trade became a reality.  Just after being selected with the 6th pick in the NBA Draft in June 2016, approximately 8 months ago, Buddy will be moving to the West Coast to become the newest member of the Sacramento Kings.  Hield joins a roster which screams ‘rebuild mode’ at the halfway point of the season with both teams sharing comparable losing records.  The Pelicans sit at 23-34 while the Kings are 24-33, one single game difference which coincidentally happened to be the 105-99 lost exactly 7 days ago.  This would be the very same game where Buddy Hield was ejected for the infamous below the belt flagrant 2 foul.  How ironic is that?

The trade which GM Vlade Divac said would never happen...happened.  On February 6, Vlade Divac told ESPN, "We're not trading DeMarcus...we hope he's here for a long time."  So much for that statement as Sacramento has agreed to trade DeMarcus Cousins and Omri Casspi to the Pelicans in exchange for Buddy Hield, ‎Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, a 2017 first-round pick and future second-round pick according to ESPN's NBA sources.  The trio seen below have made up a nucleus which performed well but despite a starting role, Buddy has seen limited action in many games especially in the second half.  This move to Sacramento should give him more flexibility to be a key piece in the lineup and get extended playing time while the Pelicans look to compete for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.  According to ESPN, Anthony Davis was informed of the late night trade as he completed his post NBA All Star Game Interview, he flashed a mile and a thumbs-up of approval.

The future is still very bright for Buddy, who put on an amazing show at the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge scoring 28 points and also recently won the KIA Rookie of The Month for December 2016.  It will be a bumpy road for the rest of the season but it will give him an opportunity to open up his offensive repertoire.  Many are already speculating exactly which team benefitted most from the Buddy Hield Demarcus Cousins Sacramento Kings Trade but we know one thing for sure, expect Buddy Hield in the lineup on Thursday when the Sacramento Kings play the Denver Nuggets.  The game of basketball must go on...
