Buddy Hield Portland Trailblazers Highlights started on a positive note with the return to the lineup of Anthony Davis who missed the previous game with a quad injury. Davis was a bit tentative at first but eventually showed up in normal AD fashion, dominating in all phases of the game with a monster game. Davis had 38 points while collecting 9 rebounds, dishing out 6 assists along with 2 steals and 4 blocks. Davis’ statline was simply brilliant. He accomplished all of this in only 36 minutes of action.
The return of Jrue Holiday was the icing on the cake for the Pelicans as he sliced and diced his way through the Trailblazers on his way to 21 points and 7 assists in only 23 minutes of action while coming off the bench. His presence made an immediate impact on the offensive efficiency of the team. The Pelicans shot a blistering 54.9% from the field while the Blazers managed only 37.5%. Despite out rebounding the Pelicans 48-37, the Pelicans moved the ball more efficiently dishing out 31 assists while the Blazers managed just 19 for the night.
The backcourt duo of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum provided the only spark for the Blazers while getting minimal production from the rest of the team. Lillard scored 27 points while McCollum chipped in with 24 points. It simply wasn’t enough for a Blazers team which fell behind early and unable to come back for the duration of the game.
Buddy Hield played only 6 minutes for the entire game attempting 2 shots and nailing both of them. With the return of Holiday, the team’s starting point guard and missing piece to their offensive struggles, Coach Alvin Gentry must establish a way to get Hield more involved with the rotation of players. The Pelicans have several guards who all played exceptionally well tonight which ultimately led to Hield playing less minutes tonight. Tim Frazier, the current starting point guard ahead of Holiday, scored 12 points while dishing out 8 assists meanwhile E’Twaun Moore, the starting shooting guard ahead of Hield scored 11 points in 29 minutes.
With the return of Holiday, we anticipate that Buddy Hield will benefit in the future and look at the performance by all players tonight as a step in the right direction. The Pelicans improve to 3-10 while the Trailblazers drop to 7-7 for the season.
