Buddy Hield New Orleans Pelicans Highlights

Buddy Hield New Orleans Pelicans Highlights

With all the anticipation of the first meeting of the post DeMarcus Cousins trade era, the game started out with lots of early jitters and sloppy offensive play.  Both teams had multiple turnovers in the first quarter, Sacramento (6) and New Orleans (7) but the Pelicans managed to score 10 points off turnovers early.  New Orleans finished strong with a 14-4 run at the end of the quarter to take a 32-19 lead. Buddy Hield was able to get on the board scoring 4 points and received a cheer from New Orleans faithfuls in the crowd before tipoff.  Along with early scoring, Hield’s contributions would also include 5 rebounds to go along with 2 assists and a block of former teammate J’Rue Holiday.  It was positive to see some Buddy Hield New Orleans Pelicans Highlights against the team who drafted him with the 6th pick in NBA Draft.  Tonight, Buddy played well and would finish as the Kings’ second leading scorer with 13 points and a career-high 8 rebounds to go along with 3 assists, a block and a steal in 24 minutes of action.  We have lots of video clips with Buddy Hield New Orleans Pelicans Highlights at the end of our recap.

The Bigs of New Orleans dominated with Anthony Davis scoring 11 points with 6 rebounds while DeMarcus Cousins had 12 points and 6 rebounds after the first quarter.  The game was all set up for Boogey to shine against his former team and he definitely stepped his play up as he led all scorers with 37 points along with 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and a 2 blocks.  Statistically, this would be his second highest scoring performance with the Pelicans as he notched 41 points a few games earlier against the Memphis Grizzlies.  Anthony Davis had 19 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and a game-high 5 blocked shots.  Davis became the first Pelicans player in history to score more than 2,000 points in a season on a huge putback dunk in the third quarter.

Despite trading early baskets in this game, the Sacramento Kings never stood a chance as the Pelicans dominated defensively and controlled points in the paint with a 60-38 advantage led by the combination of Davis and Cousins for New Orleans.  The Kings committed 22 turnovers compared to just 12 for the Pelicans who scored 36 points off turnovers which was key in building a 32 point advantage in the fourth quarter.  The Pelicans controlled all phases of this game recording 17 steals and 13 blocks compared to just 7 steals and 6 blocks for the Kings.  The additional offensive opportunities led to 28 assists compared to just 18 for the Kings.

The youth and lack of experience was clearly on display for the Kings who were undersized against the Pelicans frontcourt.  Young rookie Skal Labissiere was tasked with defending Cousins and Davis on occasion, but his lean 6’11 225 pound frame could not stop Boogey Cousins around the basket especially with a 45 pound difference in weight.  The young players are growing for the Kings and should look towards next season with encouragement.  Ben McLemore led the Kings with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists as he received extended minutes in the fourth since Buddy Hield did not play in the fourth quarter.  It will be a key decision next year for the 4-year pro whether he remains with the Kings or looks to sign an offer elsewhere.

Key Statistics: The Kings bench were outscored by the Pelicans 42-36.  New Orleans dominated the rebounding 44-38 but were outrebounded 14-10 by the Kings on the offensive rebounds.  Willie Cauley-Stein led the Kings with 14 rebounds.   The Kings shot 35 of 89 (39.3%) from the field and just 6 of 19 (31.6%) from three-point range.  Another poor night of shooting from deep for the Kings.  Meanwhile, the Pelicans shot 46 of 95 (48.4%) from the field and 10 of 33 (30.3%) from beyond the arc.  Up next, the Kings head to Memphis to play the tough playoff contenders on the road at 8:00pm EST.  Be sure to check out all the video clips below and share these Buddy Hield New Orleans Pelicans Highlights to fellow Buddy Hield Fans in your social network!
