The New Orleans Pelicans once again had an awesome opportunity to capture their first win of the season but fell short in a 89-83 overtime loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.  The first and third quarters looked like preseason where nothing could go right.  The second quarter, the team looked poised to take control of this game scoring 35 points taking a lead ahead of the Grizzlies.

It was a dreadful night for Anthony Davis who scored just 10 points and collected just seven rebounds with three blocks.  The Grizzlies controlled Davis all night, limiting most shot attempts in the paint.  It was a tough, physical game where it took a toll on his production.

Buddy Hield had his first solid NBA game and gave a little preview of what many Pelicans fans can expect in the future.  Hield shot 6-15 from the field and 4-9 from behind the arc for 18 points. His consistent play earned him more playing time in the lineup last night as well playing over 30 minutes in the game.  His scoring helped the Pelicans fight back on two occasions to cut a healthy Grizzlies lead after the first and third quarters.  He gave a valiant effort defensively which created mismatch issues for the Memphis guards on switches.  Buddy Hield is finally getting comfortable with the NBA and this is what fans were excited to see.
