Buddy Hield Boston Celtics Highlights started with a bang as Buddy Hield was inserted into the starting lineup for the New Orleans Pelicans as starting shooting guard E’Twaun Moore was a late scratch with a right big toe injury. Hield started along with point guard Tim Frazier in the backcourt against the tough Boston Celtics dynamic duo of Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley. At the start of the game, Bradley was the center of potential trade rumours with the Golden State Warriors. Rumor has it that Bradley would be traded to the Warriors for Klay Thompson. We will definitely pay attention to this development but truthfully, it would definitely be a shock.
Buddy Hield started by scoring the first two points for the Pelicans with a beautiful driving floater off the glass. However, Coach Alvin Gentry went with the hot hand opting to play Langston Galloway more at the shooting guard position. Galloway had his best game of the year with 21 points, 3 assists and 2 steals for the night while playing over 31 minutes. Buddy attempted only 7 shots in 21 minutes of play, and received most of his playing time in the 2nd half. We strongly feel as though more creative offensive plays must be introduced to take advantage of Buddy’s talent as an open court player.
Anthony Davis led the Pelicans with 25 points, 16 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks but shot only 7-22 and often took every difficult shots or awkward runners which were simply not falling. The Pelicans had a balanced scoring effort with good bench production including key points from newly acquired Archie Goodwin and controlled the game early building a five point halftime lead. The Pels eventually built up a 15 point lead in the 3rd quarter only to see the Celtics go on multiple runs to erase the early lead. The Celtics outscored the Pelicans in the 4th quarter 31-22 and despite a fierce comeback by the Celtics, the Pelicans were able to hang on to sneak out their first victory at home 106-105 after a last second attempt by the Celtics fell short. The whistle blew signalling the end of regulation. The Celtics bench were calling for a foul on the alley-oop attempt but the foul supposedly happened after the clock expired. Pelicans celebrated and improved their record to 2-9 while the Celtics fell to 5-5.
For the Celtics, Isaiah Thomas absolutely dominated this game leading both teams in scoring with 37 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal while committing only 1 turnover the entire night. Thomas also received support from Avery Bradley who scored 19 points and collected 10 rebounds while hitting three 3 pointers for the night.
